Privacy Policy

Arc is a macOS menu-bar app that opens a radial quick-launcher when you double-tap the Option key, letting you trigger app-specific actions and manage windows without reaching for the mouse. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use Arc.

The short version: Arc does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. It has no analytics, no tracking, and no ad SDKs. The permissions it asks for are used only to make the radial menu work, and everything stays on your Mac unless you turn on iCloud sync, in which case your own Apple account handles it, not us.

Data we collect

Arc does not operate any servers of its own and does not collect personal data on our behalf. Specifically:

No account required. Arc does not ask you to sign up, log in, or provide an email address to use the app.
No analytics or tracking. Arc does not include any analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs. We have no visibility into how you use the app.
Local configuration only. Your radial menu layout, shortcuts, and preferences are stored locally on your Mac, in your user Application Support folder. This data never leaves your device unless you enable iCloud sync (see below).

Permissions Arc requests

Permission	Why Arc needs it
Accessibility	To detect the double-tap-Option gesture that opens the radial menu, and to read and interact with the currently focused window (for actions like window snapping and app switching). This data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
Automation	To send commands to other apps when you trigger an action from the radial menu (for example, telling an app to open a new window). Arc only automates apps in response to your direct input.
iCloud (optional)	If you choose to enable sync, Arc uses Apple's CloudKit to store your menu profiles and settings in your personal iCloud account so they carry over between your Macs. This data is encrypted and managed under your own Apple ID; Arc's developer cannot access it. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

Purchases and subscriptions

Arc Pro subscriptions and lifetime purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit, with entitlement status managed by our subscription provider, RevenueCat. Arc never sees or stores your payment details, card numbers, or Apple ID credentials, that information is handled directly by Apple. RevenueCat receives anonymized purchase and entitlement data (such as which plan is active and renewal status) to determine what features to unlock. A free trial period is offered before a subscription begins; the trial's start and expiry are tracked locally on your device and are not shared with us.

Data retention and deletion

Because Arc doesn't collect data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on request. Uninstalling Arc removes its local configuration files from your Mac. If you've enabled iCloud sync, you can remove Arc's data from iCloud at any time via System Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage on your Mac.

Children's privacy

Arc is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since Arc collects no personal data at all, this applies equally to users of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of Arc after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
